Clinical Diagnostic Value of Serum GABA, NE, ET-1, and VEGF in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with Pulmonary Hypertension
The present study aims to investigate useful diagnostic factors in patients with COPD and pulmonary hypertension (COPD-PH).
Conclusion: Serum NE and ET-1 are risk factors for COPD-PH, whereas serum GABA and VEGF are protective factors. The combination of serum NE, ET-1, GABA, and VEGF levels had the highest diagnostic value.
Evolving to a single inhaler extrafine LABA/LAMA/ICS - Inhalation technique and adherence at the heart of COPD patient care (TRIVOLVE) - PubMed
Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37562659/
This observational study demonstrates that in eligible COPD patients in a real-life setting, the switch from dual therapy or multiple inhaler triple therapy to single inhaler extrafine BDP/FF/G in combination...
Conclusions: This observational study demonstrates that in eligible COPD patients in a real-life setting, the switch from dual therapy or multiple inhaler triple therapy to single inhaler extrafine BDP/FF/G in combination with inhalation technique training is associated with improved inhalation technique and adherence.
Optimization of M3 Antagonist-PDE4 Inhibitor (MAPI) Dual Pharmacology Molecules for the Treatment of COPD - PubMed
Source : https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37561958/
Aiming at the inhaled treatment of pulmonary diseases, the optimization process of the previously reported MAPI compound 92a is herein described. The project was focused on overcoming the chemical stability...
Conclusions/Relevance: The chemical strategy was based on fine-tuning of the substitution pattern in the muscarinic and PDE4 structural portions of the dual pharmacology compounds, also making use of the analysis of a proprietary crystal structure in the PDE4 catalytic site. Compound 10f was identified as a chemically stable, potent, and in...
Patterns and Trends in the Use of Medications for COPD Control in a Cohort of 9476 Colombian Patients, 2017–2019
A retrospective study on prescription patterns of bronchodilators & other medications used in COPD from a population database with follow-up at 12 & 24 months.
Conclusion: This group of patients with COPD treated in Colombia frequently received short-acting bronchodilators and ICS, but a growing proportion are undergoing controlled therapy with long-acting bronchodilators, a situation that can improve the indicators of morbidity, exacerbations, and hospitalization.
Triple Therapy with Mometasone/Indacaterol/Glycopyrronium or Doubling the ICS/LABA Dose in GINA Step 4: IRIDIUM Analyses - Pulmonary Therapy
Source : https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s41030-023-00234-y
Introduction GINA guidelines recommend increasing the dose of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) as a step-up option for patients with inadequately controlled asthma at GINA step 4 [inadequately controlled asthma on medium-dose...
Conclusion: Medium-dose MF/IND/GLY improved lung function and reduced asthma exacerbations compared to high-dose ICS/LABA and may be an undervalued option in patients at GINA 2022 step 4.
